Spotlights

In Phase Five we bring you ten 'Spotlights' - these are self-development and life improvement projects that focus on different areas of your life and give you practical ways to make it better- and to make sure your weight stays off permanently.

The nodietdietway has begun to show you how you can expand your world, revitalize your life and lose weight. The Spotlights help you keep up the good work. They'll make sure you keep that weight off. And they'll help you to improve all aspects of your life. So you'll not only be slimmer; you'll be living life to the full, enjoying better relationships and experiencing an all-round sense of personal renewal.

These Spotlights are NOT just words of advice (even though they contain many). Because the nodietdietway philosophy is about getting you to DO things that will make a difference in your life, these projects are activity based and provide lots of ideas of how you can put these sound ideas into practice.

The ten monthly 'Spotlights are:
1. Fun 6. Makeover / A new you
2. Getting things done 7. Making a contribution
3. Spirituality 8. Well-being
4. Partner (or close friend) 9. Relationship
5. Building a future 10. The nodietdietway: Do Something Different Revisited

The GETTING THINGS DONE 'Spotlight' is all about tackling those things we put off. It shows you how to be more efficient and never again have a backlog of things you've been meaning to get around to. We show you how to:

  • Tackle small tasks before moving on to slightly larger projects.
  • Tackle the fears that stop you doing things.
  • Develop ways of becoming more efficient. We give you a ‘toolkit’ of techniques and you choose the ones that work best for you.

The SPIRITUALITY 'Spotlight'

The SPIRITUALITY ‘Spotlight’ will help you make contact with the inner ‘you’. It will help you discover the meaning of peace, calm and tranquility – however hectic your world is. It will show you how to be more satisfied with life, more relaxed and contented from the inside out. In this Spotlight you’ll be able to:

  • Learn something new about yourself and other people.
  • Expand your world, be creative with art or poetry, explore your natural habitat, and connect with the natural world.
  • Reject consumerism (even if only for a day!).
  • Make sure you live in the here and now, release yourself from your past and put yesterday behind you.

The BUILDING A FUTURE 'Spotlight'

The BUILDING FOR A FUTURE ‘Spotlight’ will get you thinking about where you want to be in the future and how you are going to get there. It’ll show you how to start laying the foundations now whether you want a better career, a lovely home or to get along better with others. This ‘Spotlight’ will help you start to build the future you want, now. It will give you practical projects so you can:

  • Invest in all aspects of your life that you may need to draw on in the future. Our ‘stockpiling’ project helps you do this.
  • Focus on the positive aspects and outcomes of whatever it is you want to do or be in the future. Focus on how to get where you want to be and learn how to ignore your inner critic!
  • Decide what sort of person you want to be in the future. We’ll help you develop strategies to act like the person you want to be and so increase the chances of it happening.

The MAKING A CONTRIBUTION 'Spotlight'

This 'Spotlight' gets you thinking about how you contribute to your friends, family, society in general and the environment in so many different ways. It shows you how 'giving' can be as rewarding as 'getting' and gets you to focus on:

  • The ways you can contribute to at least one person’s life whether it’s sending a thank you note or picking up litter in the street.
  • Becoming more aware of the many different ways you can contribute to your society and the environment in general through some of your own personal projects.
  • How to be a better neighbour, colleague or friend through small, random acts of kindness.

The PARTNER 'Spotlight'

This month you’ll be turning the Spotlight towards your PARTNER (or close friend). The idea is to help you get the most from your relationship with the person you are closest to by:

  • Putting yourself in another person’s shoes and seeing the world from their viewpoint – what can we learn from this and how can it help us move forward.
  • Improving communication and making sure we tell those nearest to us about the important things that matter.
  • Looking at the positives instead of habitually noticing the negatives.
  • Working on our honesty and open-ness in relationships.

The WELL-BEING 'Spotlight

The WELL-BEING 'Spotlight gives you an overhaul! Are you taking care of yourself mentally and physically? Are you overloading your mind and body with too many unimportant chores, unnecessary worries, and the wrong kind of food? This 'Spotlight' features a host of projects for your physical and mental health improvement. There are things you can do to improve your well-being and this is a practical and do-something-different approach that works.

The RELATIONSHIP 'Spotlight'

The RELATIONSHIP 'Spotlight' takes a look at how you relate to all those people you come into contact with. It shows you, in a practical way, that what you get back from people is mainly due to what you give out. You'll also do a rain check on the friendships you have with our Circle of Friends audit project, which ones matter? Are they all good for you? Are you putting effort into staying friends with the wrong people? What are the rules for maintaining friendships? We'll show you how to give out the right messages so you get the most back from others and have friendships that are enriching and rewarding for everyone.

The NODIETDIETWAY: DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT 'Spotlight'

This 'Spotlight' revisits the first four Phases of the nodietdietway weight loss programme and the important principles behind the nodietdietway programme.

  • What are the lessons you’ve learned and just how much has your life improved, not just because you’ve lost weight?
  • Have you become a habit-spotter?! Spotting other people’s – and your own – habits is the key to doing something different.
  • Have fun comparing your habit spotting skills with those of a friend.
  • Complete the Do Something Different Quotient (DSD-Q) for the last time. Compare your scores from the first and second times you completed the DSD-Q. See how you’ve become a slimmer more flexible person… more involved in life.
  • Think back over your time on the programme to see which of the activities and tasks you completed had the most unexpected results.
  • Send your ‘funniest’, ‘best loved’, ‘most charitable’ or ‘most unexpected outcome’ stories to us here at support@nodietdietway.com .We will choose the best and post them on the website for other users to read.
